The Langley Junior Thunder picked up three of a possible four points and now have just one loss in their past four games.
The Thunder played the Burnaby Junior Lakers to an 11-11 draw last week (May 29) and then edged the Nanaimo Junior Timbermen 14-12 on Sunday (June 1).
Both B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League games were played at the Langley Events Centre and the Thunder improved to 3-8-1 on the season.
In the first game, Langley had jumped ahead 5-1 in the first period before Burnaby took the lead in the second. The rest of the game was back-and-forth and the Thunder's Brett Dobray forced overtime with his fourth goal with 3:23 to play.
Dustin Doudelet had four goals and an assist while James Rahe had three goals and two assists. Brendan Mykle-Winkler, Riley Glemnitz and Bryce Brochu each had three assists while Dylan Lacroix and Lucas Sander set up two goals apiece. Brodie Porter finished with one assist.
In goal, Steven Mayervich made 42 saves.
The second game again saw Langley built an early advantage — they were up 7-1 after 20 minutes — before their opponent made a game of it. The Thunder were up 12-8 after two periods and the Timbermen cut the lead to 12-11 with half a period to play. But Riley Glemnitz and Brochu scored goals 1:14 apart to seal the 14-12 victory.
Rahe led the way with eight points as he scored once and set up seven others and he sits second in the league scoring race with 20 goals and 46 points.
Brochu and Mykle-Winkler both had four goals and two assists while Glemnitz finished with a pair of goals and four helpers.
William Vanden Hooven (three goals, one assist) and Alex Margetson (two assists) also had multi-point games.
Mayervich made 38 saves for the win.
Next up for the Thunder is another home game on Thursday (June 5) against Coquitlam. Game time is 8 p.m.
