A fourth-place finish has landed James Kim a spot on the short list for the Callaway junior world golf championship.
The Langley golfer shot 75-76—151 to finish eight strokes back of age group winner Jared du Toit, who shot a 143.
The golfers were competing at the Maple Leaf Junior Tour’s B.C. series, which stopped at Surrey’s Morgan Creek Golf Course over the weekend.
The tournament served as a qualifier for the junior world golf championships in San Diego this July.
Two other local golfers came home with top three finishes.
Jae Wook Lee, 12, was second in the boys 13 and under division with a 153, two shots back of the leader, while 17-year-old Winnie Hyun was third in the girls division with a 153, six shots back of the winner.
In the boys’ 17-19 group, Tyler Roope and Jesse Reichelt, finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
Roope also won the tournament’s skills award.
And Cole Briggs was 10th in the boys’ 14-16 division.
