Kodiaks build early lead, cruise to victory

Aldergrove Kodiaks strike early and often as they double up the North Vancouver Wolf Pack

The Aldergrove Kodiaks struck early and often, building a huge lead and then hanging on the third period for a 6-3 victory over the North Vancouver Wolf Pack.

The Kodiaks hosted the Pack on Oct. 31 at Aldergrove Arena in PIJHL junior B hockey action.

After Scott McHaffie opened the scoring 29 seconds in, his twin brother Spencer McHaffie scored twice and Adam Callegari made it 4-0 just 12:24 into the contest.

MacLean Hewitt and Stephen Ryan made it 6-0 after 40 minutes for the home side before the Wolf Pack tried to rally in the third.

The North Vancouver visitors did score the only three goals of the final period — all of which came in the first 5:04 — and outshot the Kodiaks 19-6 in the period.

Dylan Tuskey, Brett Gough and Quin Buckellew had the Wolf Pack goals.

Spencer McHaffie added two assists for a four-point night while Scott McHaffie finished with a goal and two helpers.

Kenny Prato and Stefan Gonzales both also had a pair of assists, Joshua Cronin, Tyson Solotki, Ryan Veillet and Ryan all had an assist.

Mark Menicucci made 40 saves for the win.

The win improved Aldergrove to 6-8-1-0.

The team is on the road on Nov. 3 when they play the North Delta Devils at Sungod Arena before a home game on Nov. 7 versus the Port Moody Panthers at the Aldergrove Arena.
