The Aldergrove Kodiaks scored three times in the third period to snap a 1-1 tie and cruise to a 4-1 victory in junior B hockey action.

The Kodiaks hosted the Ridge Meadows Flames on Dec. 5 at the Aldergrove Arena to complete a home-and-home series. Aldergrove had won that game on Nov. 30 by another 4-1 score.

In the most recent game, Stephen Ryan put the Kodiaks ahead 4:02 into the contest and that stood as the only game's only goal until the dying seconds of the middle period when Connor Redmond scored with 15 seconds to go.

But a pair of short-handed goals from Adam Callegari and Ryan Veilet less than five minutes apart put Aldergrove ahead for good.

Jackson Wanick added a fourth goal with six minutes to go.

Mark Menicucci earned the win, stopping 29 of the 30 shots he faced. At the other end, the Flames' Wesley McLeod was outstanding, delivering a 46-save performance in a losing effort.

In the teams' meeting on Nov. 30, Tyson Solotki's goal late in the second period stood as the winner. Solotki scored with 40 seconds to play before intermission, giving his team a 2-0 lead. Roshen Jaswal had opened the scoring in the first.

The third period saw Daniel Higgs extend the lead to 3-0 before Paul Piluso's short-handed goal ruined Menicucci's shutout bid.

The Aldergrove goalie did finish with 19 saves.

Scott McHaffie added a late power-play goal to round out the scoring.

The Kodiaks are at the Sungod Arena on Dec. 8 to face the North Delta Devils.

They return home to battle the league-leading Richmond Sockeyes on Dec. 12.
