A trio of local baseball players who helped win the senior men's provincial championship this past summer have been selected to play in the 2012 sophomore junior college all-star game.

Tyler Barlow, Josh Sigurdson and Karl Malacek spent the summer with the Langley Senior Blaze, culminating in a provincial title in Prince George back in August.

All three are expected back with the Blaze in 2013. Also expected to play for Langley next summer is Jeremy Filipek, who will join the Senior Blaze next year.

But first, they are back to their respective colleges for the upcoming season.

And this weekend (Sept. 27-29) they will suit up in the JUCO (junior college) sophomore all-star game in Austin, Texas.

The game is a chance for second-year junior college players in New Mexico and Texas to showcase their skills in front of scouts and coaches for four-year NCAA/NAIA schools.

Barlow and Filipek play for Midland College, while Makacek is at Blinn College and Sigurdson at El Paso Community College.
