Langley Eagles flying high as championships approach

Top tier 1 peewee hockey teams will battle for provincial supremacy at the Langley Events Centre

It promises to be some fast-paced and exciting hockey.

The 2012 B.C. Hockey peewee tier 1 provincial hockey championships will be contested at the Langley Events Centre from March 19 (Monday) to March 22 (Thursday).

Six teams — the host squad from Langley, as well as the North Shore Winter Club, Kelowna, Coquitlam, Cowichan Valley and Prince George — will battle it out for the provincial title.

The local squad, the Langley Eagles are on a hot streak heading in, with 15 wins in their past 16 games.

And that lone loss came at the hands of the North Shore Winter Club.

In fact, North Shore — which is unbeaten on the season  and the top-ranked team in B.C. — has handed Langley four of their losses on the season.

The Eagles made history back in January when they became the first B.C. team to win the prestigious Regina Peewee Classic hockey tournament.
