A doubleheader sweep pushed the Langley Junior Blaze's winning streak to a dozen games.

The U16 baseball team defeated the visiting Nanaimo Junior Pirates 4-1 and 10-1 on Friday (June 29) at McLeod Park to improve to 25-6 in the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League.

In the opener, the teams were tied at one through much of the game, but the Blaze scored three times in the bottom of the sixth and starting pitcher Mitchell Kennedy finished his complete game by nailing down the final three outs.

Kennedy allowed just three hits while striking out three as well.

Andre Pelletier, Liam Goddfrey, Shayne Clarke and Matthew Whieldon had RBI singles for Langley.

And in the second game, Nanaimo scored once in the top of the first inning, but after that, it was all Langley. The Blaze struck twice in the second and then four times in both the fourth and fifth innings for the 10-1 win.

Pelletier belted a grand slam and finished 2-for-3 with six RBIs.

Colin McMaster, Kyle Ross and Clarke also drove in runs.

Grahame Bailey threw a complete game three-hitter with three strikeouts.
