Langley Majors seeded second for playoff round

The Langley All-Stars will be the second seed for the semifinal round at the 11/12 Majors Little League Baseball championships at Victoria's Hampton Park.

Langley earned that honour after an 8-2 victory on Thursday night over the host squad Hampton. The win improved Langley to 4-1 heading into their final round robin game (July 29) against Trail (2-3).

The Langley bats were working quickly in the win over Hampton, as the team scored runs in each of the first three innings to lead 7-0.

Trevor Miller, Yi Fan Pan, Trevor Alcos and Colby Ring had one RBI apiece. Langley also took advantage of four Hampton errors to score four unearned runs.

Pitcher Riley Enns picked up the win, striking out three of the six batters he faced.

Ken Debois, Nick Atkinson, Yi Fan Pan and Alcos also pitched in the victory.

Langley will face Little Mountain (4-2)in one of the semifinals on Saturday (July 30). The teams played on the tournament's opening day, with Langley posting a 7-1 victory.

First-place Hastings (5-0) will play either Layritz (2-3) or Trail (2-3) in the other.

The semifinal winners play on July 31 for the provincial title with the winner representing B.C. at the Canadian national championships in North Vancouver.
