The Langley Rivermen, and their trainer/equipment manager Brayden Tonogai, will likely be exhausted by next Wednesday.
That’s because, over seven days starting last night and ending on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, Langley’s junior A hockey team is playing five times.
The hectic schedule starts Wednesday, Nov. 5, with a home game against the Merritt Centennials at the Langley Events Centre. Opening puck drop is 7 p.m.
It continues Friday when the Rivermen host the Chilliwack Chiefs at the Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.
The Rivermen and Chiefs then travel to the Prospera Centre in Chilliwack on Saturday to close out their home-and-home series.
Two days later, on Monday, Nov. 10, the Rivermen will go to South Surrey Arena to play the Surrey Eagles, with a 7:11 p.m. start time.
Finally, on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, the Rivermen host the West Kelowna Warriors. Early start time at the LEC is 4 p.m.
Then, the Rivermen are on a much-needed, week-long break.
They don’t play again until Tuesday, Nov. 18, when they travel to West Kelowna to face the Warriors.
The Rivermen will be looking for food donations for the community’s hungry on Friday, when they host the Chiefs.
The BCHL and Five Hole for Food are teaming up again to generate food and cash donations for food banks around the province.
Last season, the inaugural campaign, BCHL teams combined to generate over 33,000 pounds of food.
The goal for each team is to get their fans and sponsors to contribute as much food or money as they can and try to top the entire league in pounds of food raised.
The Chilliwack Chiefs topped the list last year with more than 10,000 pounds of food.
This year, it is the Rivermen who are first out of the gate and they’ll try to set the bar high for others to beat.
