Langley Senior Blaze break into win column with impressive weekend

Men's baseball team wins three of four games in Kelowna

The Langley Senior Blaze broke through in the win column as they picked up three victories in four games in Kelowna over the weekend.

The Blaze were in Kelowna at Elks Stadium for a quartet of Pacific International League games.

Langley 4 Trail Orioles 0

Tony Farago drove in two runs, which was more than enough offence for the Blaze pitching staff, who combined on a six-hit shutout.

Matt Jones picked up the win with four innings of work.

Zach Mihic and Brad Ferraro each had RBIs.

Langley 10 Kelowna Jays 4

The Blaze scored four runs in both the third and fourth innings as they posted their biggest offensive output of the season.

Dillon Reynolds drove in three of the runs, while Clayton Howell and Jesse Peters both drove in a pair.

Blake Stewart picked up the win on the mound, allowing three runs on six hits over four innings.

Langley 8 Trail Orioles 2

The Blaze blew open the game with a five-run fifth inning as they handed the Orioles a loss for the second consecutive day on Sunday.

Tyler Barlow went 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs while Reynolds continued his strong weekend with another two RBIs as well.

Karl Malacek picked up the win with five innings of one-hit ball. He also struck out six Trail batters.

Kamloops Sun Devils 7 Langley 0

The Blaze bats went silent in the finale. After erupting for 22 runs in the first three games, they were shutout and managed just two hits against Kamloops.

Corey Parsons was tagged with the loss, allowing four runs on over five innings.

Langley has a busy  week as they play Burnaby Collegiate in Burnaby on June 5, host the Coquitlam Angels at McLeod Park on June 6, and then are back in Burnaby on June 7 against the Bulldogs.

The Blaze also host a pair of doubleheaders over the weekend, June 9 against the Nanaimo Coalminers and June 10 versus the Everett Merchants.
