After a tough start to the season, the Langley Senior Blaze have turned things around with seven wins in their past 10 games.

The most recent success came on the weekend as the Blaze won three of their four home games at McLeod Park in Pacific International League baseball action.

Langley beat the Nanaimo Coalminers 4-1 and 4-3 on Saturday before splitting their doubleheader on Sunday with the Everett Merchants. The Merchants won the opener 5-0 before the Blaze took game two 4-2.

In the opener, Aaron Dick and Matt Jones combined on a five-hitter, allowing just a single run in the 4-1 win over Nanaimo.

Joe Germaine had two hits while Brooklyn Foster, Kevin McLeod, Bob Foerster and Ryan Jensen all drove in a run.

And in the second game, Tony Farago’s fourth-inning single scored Brad Ferraro to snap a 3-3 tie.

Farago, Foster and Tyler Barlow all had RBIs.

Blake Stewart picked up the win, striking out nine over five innings.

Against Everett on Sunday, the Blaze were held off the scoresheet in a 5-0 loss..

Karl Malacek was tagged with the loss, although only two of the five runs he allowed were earned.

And in the second game,  Jesse Peters threw a gem, striking out 11 batters and coming within one out of a complete game.

Tyler Willson drove in a pair of runs, while Scott Nelson and Foster had an RBI apiece.
