Langley Senior Blaze land three on all-star squad

Pitchers Blake Stewart, Jesse Peters and first baseman Scott Webster recognized for stellar seasons

Three members of the Langley Senior Blaze have been named league all-stars.

Pitchers Blake Stewart and Jesse Peters, and first baseman Scott Webster were named to the 2012 all-PIL (Pacific International League) team.

The Blaze finished second in the PIL to the Seattle Studs.

Stewart led the league in strikeouts with 31 in 31 innings pitched and had a 3-2 record in PIL play. Overall, Stewart was 5-2 with 49 strikeouts in 47.2 innings.

Peters was 9-3 overall and 2-0 in league play for Langley, striking out 94 batters in 90.2 innings with an earned run average of 1.31. In PIL action, he struck out 18 batters in 14.2 innings.

Webster suited up in 13 of Langley’s 20 league games and hit .300 while driving in 15 runs. His four home runs led the league. Overall, Webster had a .373 average, nine home runs and 35 RBIs.

Webster was also named most valuable player in helping Langley win the 2012 B.C. senior men’s provincial championship.
