Langley soccer teams off to Cup contest

Langley United will take on the Port Moody Gunners in the quest for the Pakenham Cup Saturday in Port Moody. In last Friday’s Soccer City Cup semifinal, Langley lost to the Gunners 2-0 and they’re looking for some payback.

“The top teams are so close that the past week’s results doesn’t mean much,” said Gunner’s head coach Larry Moro, referring to his team’s victory over Langley last Friday. “Especially having just played them, the boys already know each other very well and what they can do, and vice versa.”

Langley United takes to the field at Port Moody Town Centre (300 Ioco Rd.) at 4 p.m. Saturday.

In earlier action Langley will battle Port Moody U21 Gunners for the U21 Neil Fuge Cup at 9:45 a.m., followed by the Presidents Garry Knight Cup featuring Westcoast FC and Langley United at noon.
