Langley softball team takes silver in Kelowna tourney

The Langley XTREME ‘03 came home from Kelowna decked in silver medals after the May 5-7 weekend.

The Langley U14 Girls Peewee Softball Rep Team took part in a tournament hosted by the Kelowna Minor Fastball Society.

All 16 teams began in a round robin on May 5-6 to sort out playoff standings for the final day of competition.

The XTREME placed first in their division, taking three straight games against the Richmond Islanders ‘04, the Calgary Kaizen, and the South Surrey White Rock Thunder ‘03.

In the playoffs, the XTREME were up against the Ridge Meadows Rage ‘03/’04 team, with the Langley girls bringing home the victory 7-2.

In a semi-final game against the Prince George Thunderbirds ‘03, the XREME again held their opponents to three runs, while crossing home plate nine times to seal the win.

The finals against the Richmond Islanders ‘03 was close, with Richmond securing the win by a score of just 4-3.

The tournament was just the start of the season for the Langley XTREME.
