The Langley Thunder pulled off a trade with the Nanaimo Timbermen, acquiring Aidan Baker (#24) and Jon Phillips in exchange for Matt Abbott (#12).

Langley Senior A Thunder have acquired Aidan Baker and Jon Phillips from the Nanaimo Timbermen in exchange for Matt Abbott and future considerations in a trade deal that was closed in late March.

“We are excited to welcome Jon and Aidan to our organization. Jon is a proven goal scorer while Aidan’s defensive tenacity and ability to play in transition will help us push towards our goals this season. Both should make an immediate impact on the floor for us this summer,” said general manager Rob Buchan.

Phillips, a right-handed forward from Delta, has 72 goals and 165 in 50 career WLA games, all with Nanaimo over the past three seasons. He has spent time in the National Lacrosse League with the Las Vegas Desert Dogs and the Colorado Mammoth.

Baker has spent parts of the past two seasons with the Timbermen in a transition role. He is currently a member of the Grizzlies in the Arena Lacrosse League and has four goals and nine points in nine games this season. Baker – who is from North Vancouver -- was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2024.

Langley kicks off the 2025 Western Lacrosse Association season on May 21 when they host the Burnaby Lakers at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:30 p,m.

WLA's 2025 regular season will be a full 18-game per team schedule to be followed by playoffs in August, with the league champion hosting the Mann Cup against the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) Champions from Ontario.
