Langley Thunder bantams edged out for B.C. bronze

The Langley Thunder bantam girls came a goal short of coming away with a bronze medal at the Subway BCLA Minor Box Lacrosse Female Provincial Championships.

The Thunder lost 3-2 in double overtime to New Westminster in Sunday's bronze medal game at Pitt Meadows Arena.

The Ridge Meadows Burrards association hosted the tournament.

A total of 24 teams in the peewee, bantam, midget, and junior age divisions played for B.C. titles at Plant Ice and Pitt Meadows Arena from July 9-13.

The Thunder lost their first three games of the tournament, 7-2 to New Westminster #2 last Wednesday at Planet Ice in Maple Ridge, 7-5 to host Ridge Meadows Thursday at Pitt Meadows Arena, and 6-3 to New Westminster #1 Friday at Pitt Meadows Arena.

They earned a spot in the bronze medal game with a 12-4 win over Nanaimo Saturday at Planet Ice.

The Thunder are Kailey Rankin, Zoe Booth, Olivia Ohlmann, Haileigh Robertson, Rachel Mullin, Natalie Rathler, Marah Baker, Alexis Spargo, Rachel Petersen, Shawna Lai, Sage Gladiuk, Samantha Pilson, Tia Tuininga, Fiona Briner, Kristine Goode, and goaltenders Carrigan Rose and Sophia Kulak.

They are coached by Ralph Ohlmann, who is assisted by Carlanna Thompson. The team manager is Jeaneen Briner.
