The Langley Thunder pulled into a first-place tie in the Western Lacrosse Association standings thanks to a fifth-straight victory.

The most recent win came Sunday (June 10) night as they dropped the host Maple Ridge Burrards 13-10 at Planet Ice. It also wrapped up a perfect week for the Thunder who won three times in five days, also posting a 13-7 win over Burnaby on June 6 and 12-8 over New Westminster on June 7.

The win improved Langley to 5-2-0 while the Burrards remain winless at 0-6-1.

The first period belonged to the Thunder as they led 5-1 after the opening 20 minutes, but Maple Ridge got back into the game thanks to a 5-2 advantage in the second period.

But Langley seized control in the third with four of the first five goals.

Alex Turner (three goals, two assists) and Lewis Ratcliff (two goals, three assists) both had five-point games while Kerry Susheski and Shayne Jackson scored twice apiece.

Joel McCready and Athan Iannucci both had a goal and two helpers, while Brett Mydske and Nik Bilic scored once each.

Brodie MacDonald picked up the win, stopping 13 of the 17 shots he faced after replacing Steve Fryer (25 saves) midway through the game.

The Thunder will shoot for a sixth-straight win on Wednesday (June 13) when they host the Coquitlam Adanacs (2-4-0) at the Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:45 p.m.
