Langley Thunder announced Steve Hay as their captain, Adam Will and James Rahe will be wearing the A’s (for assistant coach) for the 2017 season.

Hay made his Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) debut in 2005 and is entering his ninth season with the Langley Thunder.

“Steve Hay is a veteran of the Western Lacrosse Association and has those intangibles that a captain needs on and off the floor,” said head coach Darcy Rhodes.

“It is great having a guy who has been through it and seen it all before and I know he will help the younger guys.”

Meanwhile, Will has been named the team’s assistant captain.

Will has played 41 games in the WLA scoring six goals, 12 assists, and 18 points – all while wearing a Langley Thunder uniform, Rhodes explained.

“It is an honour to be named an assistant captain. I have learned a lot from the captains I have played under in Langley including Matt Leveque and Brett Mydske,” Will said.

“I am looking forward to being a part of the leadership team and to get this team back competing for a Mann Cup.”

Finally, Rahe has appeared in 24 games with the Langley Thunder scoring 21 goals, 32 assists, and 53 points.

“Our coaching staff and ownership is absolutely great and I love being a part of this team,” Rahe said. “It is an honour to be recognized on this team’s leadership core.”

The Langley Thunder return to Vancouver Island this weekend, taking on the Nanaimo Timbermen on Sunday, May 28. They lost their season opener to the Victoria Shamrocks in the last few seconds of the game. They fell 10-9, and are hoping to redeem themselves this weekend.

The Thunder’s home opener is on Wednesday, May 31, against the Maple Ridge Burrards at 7:45 p.m. inside the Langley Events Centre. Tickets are available at the Langley Events Centre Box Office at 604-882-8800 or on the Langley Thunder website.
