In a rematch of last season's Western Lacrosse Association championship series, it was once again the upstart Langley Thunder defeating the perennial powerhouse New Westminster Salmonbellies.

The two senior A lacrosse foes renewed hostilities on June 7 at Queen's Park Arena.

And New Westminster came out firing, notching two goals in the game's opening minute. But Kerry Susheski responded with three straight Langley goals to give the Thunder the lead for good.

The Thunder took a 4-2 advantage into first intermission and led 8-4 after two periods.

The ’Bellies did open the third with three straight goals to pull within a goal before Langley sealed the victory with four of the final five goals.

The win was the fourth straight for the Thunder following an 0-2 start to the season.

Lewis Ratcliff had three goals and four assists while Athan Iannucci scored once and set up five goals.

Shayne Jackson also had a multi-point game with two goals and an assist while Kyle McEwen, Tor Reinholdt and Matt Wilson each had a goal.

Joel McCready chipped in with a pair of assists while Ian Poole and Alex Turned had one helper apiece.

Brodie MacDonald made 40 saves for the win.

The Thunder will go for their fifth straight victory on June 10 when they face the winless Maple Ridge Burrards (0-5).

The team's next home game is June 13 at the Langley Events Centre against the Coquitlam Adanacs (1-4). Game time is 7:45 p.m.
