Langley trio set to wear Maple Leaf

A trio of Langley women will wear the Maple Leaf this summer.

Softball Canada has assembled their first-ever Canadian women’s national team and the roster features Langley’s Jackie Bates as well as sisters Tina and Tonya Guldbrandsen.

“We have assembled a team of very talented and well-deserving players and I look forward to coaching them,” said head said coach Tony Carnelos.

The Langley trio helped BC1 Adrenaline win gold this past summer.

Bates picking up most valuable player honours after batting .800 with four home runs and 15 RBIs.

The Canadian side will compete in Oklahoma City at the USA vs. Canada Border Battle IX.

It runs June 29 to July 1. Prior to the competition, they will play a series of exhibition games.
