Langley United rallies for OT win

Local soccer team advances to championship final of Vancouver Metro Soccer League

Langley United rallied from a first half deficit to advance to the championship finals.

Playing in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League’s U21 semifinals on Friday night, Langley fell behind 1-0 early in the game against the Sapperton Rovers FC.

The game was played at Langley’s Willoughby Community Park.

But Denny Serifovic netted the tying goal for the home side midway through the second half and Andy Phillips scored the only goal of the overtime to send Langley through with a 2-1 victory.

Langley had beaten the Rovers twice already this season.

They will now play for the VMSL championship on Saturday (March 31) against the West Van FC. The game is at noon at Vancouver’s Andy Livingstone Park.
