Langley forward Colton Beck has signed a two-year, American Hockey League SPC (standard player contract) with the American Hockey League’s Iowa Wild, the team announced on its website earlier this week.

The former Langley Chiefs junior A star originally signed a PTO (professional tryout agreement) with Iowa on Nov. 26, 2015.

On Jan. 19, 2016, Iowa signed Beck to an AHL SPC for remainder of the 2015-16 season.

In all, Beck played in 51 games for Iowa, scoring eight goals and totaling 21 points in his first full season of AHL action.

According to the Wild’s website, the Langley native native was one of the club’s best players down the stretch of the season.

Beck led all scorers with 12 points (5g-7a) over the last 19 games of the season.

He finished eighth in points for the Wild, including fourth best among first-year skaters.

Prior to joining Iowa, the 5’10” 190-pounder played parts of two seasons with the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads.

He scored 27 goals and totaled 72 points in 83 games for Idaho from 2014-16.

Beck played four years of collegiate hockey at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks from 2010-2014. He played in 146 CCHA games for the Nanooks, scoring 42 times and adding 59 assists for 101 collegiate points.
