A late-game collapse has sent the Langley  Jr. Thunder to a third consecutive defeat.

The Thunder surrendered three goals in the 4:30 — including two in the final minute, the last of which came with one second on the clock — and then the only goal in overtime as the Delta Islanders rallied for a 7-6 win.

The two B.C. junior A lacrosse rivals met on June 19 at the Langley Events Centre.

The loss drops the Thunder to 7-8-0 on the season while Delta improved to 10-4-1, good for second place with 21 points and just one back of top spot.

With 14 points, Langley is tied for fifth in the eight-team league.

The Thunder led 2-0 after one period and were up 4-0 before the Islanders finally got on the scoreboard. But Delta scored seven of the next nine goals to prevail in stunning fashion.

Logan Schuss had the final three goals for the Islanders.

James Rahe and Reegan Comeault both scored twice in the defeat while William Vanden Hooven had a goal and an assist.

Zach Porter had the other goal.

Matt Messenger, Jake Taylor and Nick Stone all had a pair of assists, while Brendan Mykle-Winkler and Brandon Bull had an assist apiece.

The Thunder, who had won six of seven games prior to their three-game losing streak, will look to get back on track this weekend.

On June 23 the team is in Nanaimo to face the Jr. Timbermen (2-13-1) and on June 24 they are back at the LEC to face the Victoria Jr. Shamrocks (7-8-0).

Game time is 5 p.m.
