The Langley peewee Lightning finished tops at the Abbotsford Icebreaker tournament over the weekend.

Some lights-out goaltending from the tandem of Sherri Brake and Kylie Mebs helped the Langley Lightning shoot down all challengers.

The Langley Girls Ice Hockey Association peewee C hockey club was a perfect 5-0 at the Abbotsford Icebreaker tournament over the weekend. It was held at the MSA  Arena and the Abbotsford Recreation Centre.

The Lightning allowed a total of just four goals over the five games, including none in the two playoff games.

In the championship final, Langley beat Chilliwack 2-0.

They also defeated Kamloops 5-0 in the semifinals, while their round robin scores were 3-2 over Chilliwack, 4-1 over Surrey and 7-1 against Penticton.

Prior to winning this event,the Lightning placed third at the LGIHA Angels on Ice tournament, which was held at Sportspex and Twin Rinks.

The team consists of Halley Berwick, Sherri Brake, Keira Brawdy, Shaylyn Campbell, Melissa Cartwright, Kate Dolinski, Jessica Douglas, Chloe Jahn, Kate May, Brooke Saunders, Cassidy Suidy, Abbey Thomasson, Emily Yeomans and Kylie Mebs. The coaches are John Campbell, John Yeomans, Steve Berwick and Chris Brawdy.
