Trinity Western's Rebecca Marchant set a new Spartans record in the pole vault at a weekend meet in Kamloops.

Rebecca Marchant bettered her own personal mark by clearing 4.01m in the pole vault, setting a new Trinity Western Spartans record.

Marchant and the rest of the Spartans track and field team were in Kamloops for the 2013 Van Rwswyk Invitational.

"This meet gives our vaulters great confidence as we go into the Canada West championships (this) weekend," said coach Laurier Primeau.

"Our performances demonstrate that our vaulters are peaking at the right time."

Ivonne Zuniga and Jamie Sinclair both also had personal bests in the pole vault, clearing 3.50m and 4.41m, respectively.

The Spartans are in action Feb. 22 and 23 in Regina for the Canada West championships.
