The BC Major Midget League's Fraser Valley Thunderbirds include several players from Langley and Aldergrove.

The first of two Major Midget weekend Showcases took place last weekend at the Richmond Oval with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds tying, then losing to, the Okanagan Rockets.

The Thunderbirds include Langley forwards Kaelen Anderson, Logan Hunter, Jonathan Rees, and Jonathan Stein, Aldergrove forward Baxter Anderson, Langley defencemen Matthew Dyck and Liam Visram, and Aldergrove goaltender Jordan Naylor.

The teams tied 4-4 before the Rockets doubled the Thunderbirds 6-3.

Game one was an evenly played matchup, with both teams skating to a 4-4 tie.

The Thunderbirds led 4-1 early in the third period, thanks to goals from Baxter Anderson, Kyle Davis, and a pair from Zac McKee, with solid goaltending by Jordan Naylor.

Okanagan then rallied to tie the game.

The Thunderbirds were unable to answer the Rockets’ momentum  into the second game of the weekend.

Okanagan’s 6-3 win included an empty net goal.

T-Bird goals were scored by Jonathan Stein, Jake Mulder, and Baxter Anderson.

Paul Tucek played well in goal for the Thunderbirds, whose next home game is Sunday, Oct. 4, with a 9:45 a.m. opening puck drop at the Abbotsford Rec. Center.
