A trio of Langley cross-country runners were honoured at the B.C. Athletics year-end athletics banquet.

The banquet was Dec. 5 at Richmond’s Hilton Airport Hotel.

Brooke Mussche (midget female), Jordan Schmidt (midget male) and Nickolas Colyn (junior male) were named the cross-country runners of the year for their respective age group.

The trio are all members of the Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club.

Colyn was a joint winner along side John Gay of the Okanagan Athletics Club.

Two other Mustangs members — javelin thrower Rori Denness (midget female) and 800m and 1500m runner Fiona Benson (senior female) — were track and field athlete of the year nominees for their age groups.

Benson was also one of nine Mustangs recognized at the banquet for representing Canada on the world stage in 2015. She competed at the world track and field championships.

Others earning recognition were: Georgia Ellenwood (FISU Games), Dean Ellenwood and Megan Champoux (world youth championships), Teagan Rasche and Brent Reston (Panamerican junior championships), Braedon Dolfo (Parapan American Games), and Dylan Williamson and Dustin Walsh (Parapan American Games, world championships).
