Mustangs tops at Eagle Classic

The Langley Mustangs earned some hardware at the Eagle Classic track and field meet in Maple Ridge.

It is a three-peat for the Langley Mustangs as the local track and field club captured the most outstanding team trophy at the Eagle Classic.

The track and field meet was held at Maple Ridge Secondary on Saturday.

Individual trophy winners included Paul Buckingham, 12, and Chloe Hetherington, 13, winning the Debbie Brill High Jump Awards, and Daniel Pavlic, 13, and Jaclyn Pauley, 13, winning the Tara Perry Sprint Awards.

In addition to the trophies, four members of the Mustangs set new meet records.

Twelve-year-old Drey Blair reached 9.45m in the shot put, Brooke Hoolesma, 12, completed the 1,200m race in 4:13, Megan Champoux, 12, finished the 800m in 2:31 and Josiah Perovich, 10, ran the 1,000m in 3:47.
