Peter Toigo has an expanded role with the Langley -based Vancouver Giants, effective today.
Toigo, who has been vice-president of operations for the Langley-based Western Hockey League team, now has more official responsibilities – even though he’s unofficially been doing the job for more than a year.
The Vancouver Giants announced Wednesday that Toigo has officially been named the club’s assistant general manager.
“Peter has worked in the capacity of assistant general manager since I arrived last year,” said Glen Hanlon, the G-Men’s general manager.
“I believe that now is a good time to formally announce Peter’s expanded role, as we move forward. We feel good about the direction that the team is going in, and Peter has been a big part of that plan.”
After earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gonzaga University, Toigo worked as operations coordinator for the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
He went on to join the Giants in 2008 as the club’s director of team services, and was named the club’s vice-president of operations in 2011 – a role he will continue to serve in while also taking on the responsibilities of assistant general manager.
“I’ve been passionate about the Western Hockey League from a young age,” Toigo said.
“I’ve also been privileged to observe and learn from some great hockey people over the last decade including Don Hay, Scott Bonner and Jason Ripplinger, and I’ve spent lots of time working with Glen Hanlon this past season. I’m excited to continue working with Glen, and I’m optimistic about what the future will bring for the Vancouver Giants.”
