There is nothing but pride left to play for as the Langley Thunder take to the floor for their Western Lacrosse Association season finale.
That is because the Thunder will miss the senior A playoffs for the first time since 2010.
With just over one third of the season to go, the Thunder looked to be in good shape, sitting at 6-5 and tied for third place in the league. But a six-game losing streak killed any hopes of a post-season berth and the team was officially eliminated from the playoff race after suffering back-to-back losses last week.
The Thunder lost 6-3 to the Maple Ridge Burrards at he Langley Events Centre on July 23 and 10-6 to the New Westminster Salmonbellies on July 24 at Queen's Park Arena.
Alex Turner scored twice in the first game and had another two goals and an assist in the other. Tyler Melnyk had a hat trick.
The Burrards and ’Bellies were the two teams the Thunder were battling with for the final two playoff spots.
The Thunder finish the season with a home date against the Nanaimo Timbermen on July 30 at the LEC.
The Timbermen will also miss the post-season.
