Brendan Ruskowski hit a two-run home run to pace the North Langley Blazers to a 6-1 victory and the Mosquito Tier 1 Interlock playoff championship trophy.

The Blazers were hosting the Surrey Canadians on Sunday at Walnut Grove Community Park.

With Joel Plante on first base in the fourth inning, Ruskowski cleared the outfield fence. Brady Chapman, Bryce Dobbs Cox and Ryan Dyck then had consecutive hits to score two more runs to break open the game.

The Blazers pitching staff and defence then shut down the Canadians in the final two innings for the win.

The pitching trio of Ben Russell, Plante and Ruskowski combined to limit Surrey to one run while Chapman and Russell had great defensive plays. Nathan Bot was solid behind the plate as well for North Langley.

For the season, the Blazers were 11-1-2 in league play, and including tournament play, the team was undefeated over their final 19 games, dating back to April 7.
