The North Langley Trappers U11 Mosquito squad capped a very successful all-star summer ball season in B.C.’s capital city last weekend.

The Trappers placed sixth at the AAA U11 Tier 2 provincials in Victoria.

The team had qualified for the provincial tourney by finishing third in the Lower Mainland Division.

The B.C. championships began with the Trappers battling to a thrilling 9-8 victory over Rutland.

Strong team play could not quite overcome quality teams from Victoria and Tsawwassen as the Trappers lost two tough games by scores of 9-8 and 4-1, respectively.

North Langley rallied to show great resilience, overcoming the disappointment with a decisive 19-10 victory over the team from Port Coquitlam.

Manager Glenn Canuel, who has coached many of these players for several years, said he expressed “great pride in the improvement this team has made by having their most successful season as a group.”

According to Canuel, “this was a deep and balanced team” that finished 13-7-1 during North Langley’s inaugural season in BC Minor baseball.

In addition to making the provincials, the Trappers also placed third in the U11 Whistler Invitational Tournament.

The North Langley Trappers are comprised of manager Glenn Canuel, coaches Jim Samec, Doug Crone, Glen Arneson, and Kevin Nicholson, and players Alex Samec, Ryan Carroll, Jake Canuel, Nathan Wright, Ayden Hadley, Brendan Ruskowski, Joel Plante, Atkinson Kuo, Seth Arneson, Markus Nicholson, Spencer Crone, and Brady Chapman.
