The Langley Knights’ three-game win streak ended in emphatic fashion, as they fell 11-2 to the visiting North Vancouver Wolf Pack in Pacific Junior Hockey League action Thursday at the George Preston Recreation Centre.
The Knights trailed 4-0 after the first period and 7-0 in the second stanza before Langley’s Mitchell Biermann ended North Vancouver netminder Sergio Del-Linz’s shutout bid with 1:13 to go in the frame.
The Wolf Pack quickly responded with Spencer Quon scoring nine seconds after Biermann’s goal to make it 8-1.
The Wolf Pack scored the first two goals of the third period to move ahead 10-1, before Langley’s Joshua Smith scored with just under five minutes remaining in regulation.
North Vancouver’s Brodyn Nielsen closed out the scoring with 1:24 to go in the game.
It was a stunner for the Knights, who were coming off a 6-3 road win over the Delta Ice Hawks two days earlier.
The Wolf Pack (26-6-0-2) currently sit tied for top spot in the PJHL’s Tom Shaw Conference with the Richmond Sockeyes, each with 54 points.
The Knights are 18-15-1-1, and sit a point back of the Aldergrove Kodiaks in a battle for top spot in the PJHL’s Harold Brittain Conference.
Langley is two points ahead of the third-place Abbotsford Pilots.
The Knights play back-to-back this week, visiting Aldergrove Arena to take on the Kodiaks on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m., before heading back to the GPRC Thursday to play Delta at 7:30 p.m.
