The Langley Thunder scored eight times in the second period alone — well above their average for a full game — but still came out on the losing end of a 14-10 score.
The Thunder hosted the New Westminster Salmonbellies on June 29 at the Langley Events Centre with the loss dropping their record to 1-10 in the senior A Western Lacrosse Association.
Langley found itself down 4-1 after 20 minutes before outscoring the ’Bellies 8-5 in the middle frame to knot the score at nine.
And the Thunder took their first lead of the night when Dustin Doudelet put them ahead 10-9 five minutes into the third. But New West responded with five straight goals to close the game and hand Langley a sixth straight loss.
Brandon Clelland led the Thunder with three goals while Doudelet, Darren McEwen and Brandon Bull each had two goals. Kevin Pym had one score in the loss.
The Salmonbellies were led by former Thunder player Anthony Malcom who had two goals and eight points.
This was Langley’s second game of the week as the night before they were hammered 14-2 by the Burnaby Lakers at the Bill Copeland Arena.
Pym and Cole Shafer had the lone Langley markers.
The Thunder are back in action on July 6 when they host the Victoria Shamrocks at the LEC. Game time is 7 p.m.
