Park posts hometown win at GreenTee in Langley

Langley's Joanna Kim was second in her division

It was familiar territory for a Langley golfer.

Soohan Park, 17,  put together two sharp rounds in the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) PLYR Series stop at Langley's GreenTee course, shooting even-par 72 followed by a 2-under 70 for a 142 total to take the MJT Junior Boys division title.

With seven birdies and one eagle on the card, Park’s all-around game was on full display.

“I filled some holes in my game during my off-season, and it paid off,” Park said.

Other Langley golfers had good games:

Langley's Joanna Kim, 14, was second in the MJT Girls 15-19 division, carding excellent rounds of 74 and 71 for a 145 total.

Kim won PLYR Closest to the Pin in her division.

Langley golfer Hunter Brandt won the Booster Juice Bounce Back Award in Peewee Boys.

Juvenile Boys Bomber LD Long Drive went to Ryan LePrieur.

GreenTee marked the first of six national tournaments in the MJT’s PLYR Series in 2025, presented in partnership with PLYR Golf, an MJT partner and supporter of junior golf in Canada.

Junior golfers in the field included competitors from across BC.,  Alberta, and Taiwan,  in pursuit of six division titles, PLYR prizing, and qualifying spots in two major events: the East Coast Junior Championship and the MJT National Tour Challenge.

Langley's Park qualified for both.

The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is Canada’s number-one-rated junior golf tour as well as the only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the ‘Road to College Golf’ in Canada.
