The Langley peewee Eagles are off to provincials after winning the tier 4 championship.

From day one back in September, the provincial championships were the goal for the Langley peewee A4 Eagles.

“As soon as this team was formed, that was the goal, to go to the provincial championships,” admitted coach Bryan Barratt.

“The coaching staff believed this was a special group of boys who had the talent, skill and attitude to do so.”

And the players have proved the coaching staff correct as the Eagles have qualified to represent the region at the provincial championships.

The six-team provincial championships are being held in Kimberley from March 15 to 18.

Langley earned their way to the championships after capturing the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association banner last month.

The Langley squad is looking for to add to their impressive collection of hardware, having already won a pair of gold medals — at the Vancouver Thunderbirds UBC Thanksgiving Cup and the Kamloops tier 3/4 tournament — as well as silver at the Winfield peewee tier 3 tournament.

The Eagles sport an overall record of 39-14-3 and the coach described his squad as focusing on their own end and playing as a team.

“We want to be the hardest working team through a relentless attack (and) take away the opponent’s time and space,” he said.
