Personal best helps Langley's Ellenwood qualify for nationals

Georgia Ellenwood is heading into the NCAA outdoor track and field national championships on a high note.

The University of Wisconsin sophomore has qualified for the heptathlon at the national championships next month in Eugene, Ore. after posting a personal best 5,714.

She is seeded 16th for the NCAA championships, which run June 10 to 13.

Ellenwood graduated from Langley Secondary in 2013 after a stellar high school career which saw her win 13 medals over four years, including winning four straight provincial heptathlon titles. Of her 13 medals, 10 were gold.

She also competed at the club level with the Langley Mustangs.

Ellenwood has also represented Canada at numerous events and won bronze in the heptathlon at the 2013 Pan American junior championships.
