Rob Pike has been named acting head coach of the Trinity Western Spartans men's and women's cross-country and track and field programs.
Pike, an assistant with the Spartans for the past three years, takes over the TWU program following the resignation of head coach Laurier Primeau.
Pike takes over a program that has won back-to-back Canada West women’s cross country and Canada West women’s track and field championships. This past year, both of the women’s teams also earned CIS silver medals. On the men’s side, the TWU cross country team nabbed a Canada West silver medal while the track and field team earned a Canada West bronze medal.
“Each of our athletes possess so much character, talent and potential to carry this team to greater heights in 2015-16 and beyond," Pike said.
"I am honoured and excited to know and work with every member of this team and to build further success with them upon the strong foundation that has been created over the past four years.”
"There really are no words to express our thanks and appreciation to Laurier,” Hall said. “He came to us directly from Scotland and quickly led our program from obscurity to national CIS prominence. We owe Laurier a great debt of gratitude and wish him God's best in his future endeavours.”
TWU endurance director and cross country coach Mark Bomba, who earned Canada West coach of the year honours in cross country in both 2013 and 2014, will continue in his coaching role with the Spartans.
