The Langley Rebels caught fire at the right time.
The Langley Fastball 97B team was competing at a U18 National Softball Association tournament in Everett, Wash. on May 11 and 12.
And the team got off to a poor start dropping its three round-robin games on the first day — 12-1 to the Abbotsford Outlaws 7-5 to Cordova Bat and 8-6 to the Duncan Dragons.
Seeded sixth for the single knock-out playoffs on Sunday, the Rebels beat Duncan 7-5 and then defeated Federal Way 5-3 in the semifinals.
And Langley avenged their opening defeat to the Outlaws in the championship final, beating Abbotsford 7-2 in a game which required extra innings.
