Ringette players practice in Aldergrove before BC Games

The Winter Games competitors are honing their teamwork.

Some Langley ringette players are preparing to head off to Kamloops for the 2018 B.C. Winter Games.

Langley is part of Fraser Valley, also known as Zone 3 at the games. Langley players, along with those from Abbotsford, Hope, Pitt Meadows, and Maple Ridge practiced together on Feb. 12 at the Aldergrove Arena, their second-to-last ice time before the Games.

The games will take place in and around Kamloops Feb. 22-25.

The B.C. Summer and Winter Games are for young athletes from around the province.

The Games will include participants from across BC in 19 sports, 247 officials, 1519 athletes, 382 coaches, for a total of 2148 participants; locations – 11 facilities in Kamloops, Stake Lake stadium and Sun Peaks Resort on Feb. 22 to Feb 25. This group of athletes and coaches representing zone 3 (Langley, Aldergrove, Abbotsford, Hope, Pitt Meadows & Maple Ridge) at their second last ice time before the games at Aldergrove Arena on Monday Feb. 12. The excitement is building for this group of athletes and coaches as they were given their jerseys and walk out wear tonight so reality is starting to hit most of them now with the games only two weeks away. This is a wonderful opportunity for them all to create a lifetime of memories and coming together in an event that happens only every other year. It is kind of like a mini Olympics so it is a pretty awesome experience for all involved.
