Schramm leads the way

Justin Schramm highlighted an impressive showing for the Langley Olympians Swim Club last weekend.

Schramm swam to seven gold medals, as well as setting both a new meet and club record in the 200 fly event.

Schramm was one of 28 members of the Langley Olympians Swim Club competing at the Hyack Swim Club meet at New Westminster’s Canada Games Pool.

The 12-year-old won gold in the 200 fly, 100 breast, 200 back, 200 individual medley, 100 back, 100 fly and 800 free events.

Other top performances included Joshua Kim, 8, setting new club records in the 100 free, 400 IM, 50 breast and 200 breast events. He also won a silver medal.

Nine-year-old Avery Martin made his first provincial AAA qualifying time in the 400 freestyle while winning the bronze medal. He also captured gold in the 400 IM.

Medal winners included:

Hillary Metcalfe, 12, gold in the 100 breast, 200 IM, 100 back and 800 free; silver in the 200 back and 200 free.

Kate Thomson, 15, gold in the 200 IM and 1500 free; silver in the 200 breast.

Michael MacDonald, 15, silver in the 200 back and 200 free; bronze in the 800 free.

Martha Metcalfe, 14, silver in the 200 fly, 200 IM and 1500 free.

Trevor Voisey, 12, silver in the 100 back and 800 free; and bronze in 100 fly, 200 breast and 100 free.

Hannah Weinkauf, 12, bronze in 800 free.
