After a 10-0 loss to open the season, the Langley Senior Blaze bounced back with an 11-3 victory.

The senior men’s baseball team was at Seattle’s Steve Cox Memorial Park to face the Highline Bears over the weekend.

Game one saw Langley lose despite surrendering just three hits as the Blaze pitchers struggled with control, allowing a combined seven base-on-balls.

And after registering just three base hits themselves, the Blaze bats woke up on Sunday, scoring 11 runs on a dozen hits. Langley scored all of their runs in two innings, five in the first and another six in the eight.

Jordan Varga led the way, going 4-for-5 at the dish with one run scored and another pair driven in.

Laszio Horvath also had a big day with three RBIs.

Billy Germaine and Brendan Halstrom each had a pair of RBIs while Scott Webster and Joel Cooper drove in one run apiece.

On the mound, Gage McLaren scattered eight hits over nine innings while striking out seven. Only one of the three runs he allowed was earned.

The team is back in action with road games in Burnaby on May 31 and Coquitlam on June 2.
