Silver lining in close call for Fort Langley Canoe Club's Fraser Dragons

The Fraser Dragons were competing at the 2016 Harrison Dragonboat Regatta on July 23. They finished .068 seconds behind for top spot, winning the silver medal in the women’s B division.

The Fort Langley Canoe Club Fraser Dragons are proving to be fast learners.

With 16 new paddlers — none of whom have previous experience — the recreational team finished a fraction of a second behind in the race for the gold medal.

The Fraser Dragons were competing at the 2016 Harrison Dragonboat Regatta on July 23. They finished .068 seconds behind for top spot, winning the silver medal in the women’s B division. They finished in 2:43.082.

The team was one of seven from FLCC competing at the regatta.

FLCC Titanium won silver in the competitive championship, finishing in a time of 2:21.460.

And the FLCC Paddle Pushers won the B Division consolation race with a time of 2:45.848.

Next up for the club is the Steveston Regatta on Aug. 20.
