Stafford beats Brookswood in soccer, but Bobcats rally to qualify for playoffs

The Skyhawks won 7-1 but Brookswood bounced back to close out the regular season with a 1-0 victory over the R.E. Mountain Eagles on Tuesday to clinch the third and final playoff spot in the Fraser Valley tournament for the Langley league. The ’Cats finished with a record of 5-3-2.

After losing to the H.D. Stafford Skyhawks 7-1 last week, the Brookswood Bobcats faced a must-win game if they wanted to grab the third and final spot from the Fraser Valley East Division for the upcoming Fraser Valley Grade 8/9 girls soccer championships.

And the Bobcats delivered with a 1-0 win in their regular season finale on May 6 against the R.E. Mountain Eagles.

The win improved Brookswood to a record of 5-3-2 and 17 points.

The Bobcats finished behind first-place D.W. Poppy (27 points) and second-place Credo Christian (20 points).
