Soccer Fest program winds up in Aldergrove

Aldergrove Youth Soccer Club is hosting a party at Aldergrove Athletic Park on Monday, to celebrate its Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fest program.

Active Start is the first of seven stages in the Wellness to World Cup player development pathway.

The festival will be held on the last Monday of the club’s spring soccer season, which is June 16.

The first games are at 5:45 p.m., and the second set of matches are at 7 p.m.

After each game, the players will enjoy a slice of pizza and juice to wind up their season.

Aldergrove Youth Soccer Club has been operating a co-ed spring soccer league this year, April 7 to June 16.

The league has an emphasis on “fitness and fun.”

Soccer players, ages four to 12, in the Aldergrove area played Monday evenings, in a game on the artificial turf fields in Aldergrove.

The teams are five to seven a side, depending on the age groups.

The rules are modified to eliminate offsides, and with substitutions permitted on the fly.

Spring soccer is aimed at soccer players wanting to continue playing after the traditional season ends in mid  March.

It is also an opportunity to introduce new players to the game as well as those players who play hockey or have other activities that keep them from participating in our winter soccer league.

Players can register for the club’s fall soccer program which starts in September.

Early bird registration ends June 30.
