The struggles continue for the Trinity Western Spartans hockey team as they dropped a pair of games to fall to 0-7 on the season.
The two most recent losses were 6-2 to Simon Fraser on Friday at the Langley Events Centre and then 5-2 at the Kamloops Memorial Arena to the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.
Against the WolfPack, the score was tied at one in the second period but the hosts struck for three goals and that proved to be the difference.
"We played a solid first period but in the second period, we allowed a coupld of aggressive plays to affect our game plan and we took too many penalties," said Spartans coach Dwayne Lowdermilk.
"In the third period, we had enough offensive chances to get back into the game, but we couldn't finish them.
"If we played the second period like we played the first and the third, it would have been a different game.
"But that didn't happen and we have to figure out how to be a more consistent team."
Douglas Gordon and Brody Hemrich scored for the Spartans. Hemrich also had an assist and Sam Gemmell also had a pair of assists.
In Friday's loss to SFU, Matt Chaput and Trevor Beaupre scored in the loss.
The Spartans trailed 2-0 after one period but had cut the lead to 3-2 after 40 minutes. However, SFU broke the game open with three goals in the final period.
Trinity Western won't have a chance to find the win column until next weekend when they host the Selkirk Saints for a pair of games at the LEC. The teams play Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.
