The Trinity Western Spartans scored six unanswered goals to erase a 1-0 deficit and win their third straight game.

The Spartans hockey team defeated the Eastern Washington Eagles 6-1 last Friday (Nov. 6) night at the Langley Events Centre.

The score was 2-1 after 40 minutes before Langley exploded for four goals, including a pair from Matthew Vela.

"It was another 60-minute effort," said Spartans coach Barret Kropf. "That's a couple games in a row where we've been able to stitch that together.

That's what we want our DNA to look like. It was just a team effort and, from a coaches' perspective, it's great to see everyone buying in and doing what we're asking them to do. Other than at the end there, we were pretty disciplined, which is something we've been working on."

Andrew Wheeler, Kaleb Denham, Blair Murphy and Mattias Schmitt had the other TWU goals while PJ Buys had three assists. Silas Matthys stopped 47 of the 48 shots he faced.

The win improved the Spartans to 4-2 on the season and they close out their five-game home stand against SFU on Nov. 14 at the LEC.
