Stampeders D leads the way in first-place showdown

Langley midget football beats North Surrey in battle of league's top two teams

The Langley Stampeders remain in first place after defeating the North Surrey Bears 21-6 in a showdown between the league’s top two teams.

The midget football teams squared off at McLeod Athletic Park on Sunday.

Langley’s defence pitched a shutout nearly the entire game, with the Bears finally breaking for a touchdown on the final play.

The Stampeders offence was led by Tyan Ackah-Sanzah, who scored a pair of touchdowns, one along the ground and the other on a pass from Devante Wilson.

The rest of the team’s points came off a pair of Kyle Clarot field goals as well as a safety.

Other highlights included Josh Fletcher intercepting a Bears pass, Nathan Murray providing the offence with good field position thanks to some strong punt returns, and Azuka Okoli gaining chunks of yardage along the ground.
