Civil war broke out with the North versus the South in Midget 12 man football action on Sunday at McLeod Athletic Park .
Langley Stampeders (the South) came up against the North Langley Kodiaks. The two teams were tied at five wins apiece going into the game.
Scoring opened in the first quarter with Stamps drawing first blood with a third down kick for a single by kicker Kyle Clarot. A fake kick by Clarot and a great run,resulted in a TD for the Stamps. The first quarter ended with an 8-0 score.
The second stanza was pretty much equal again with both teams killing opposition drives with pass interceptions at key times. North Langley received the kickoff to start the third quarter with ball possession. A convert was successful putting the Stamps into a 15-0 lead.
The 4th opened with Kodiaks returning a Stampeder kick to the Langley 41 yard marker. Two plays later they hit the end zone for a TD.
Stampeders immediately responded on the next set of downs. Six plays later, Owen Jenkins plowed across the goal line for Stamps’ third counter of the day, making the score 22-7.
The win places the Stamps in first place in the hotly contended Midget division. Their next game is on the road against the Coquitlam Falcons.
