Stealth set to see live action this weekend

Rhys Duch and the Vancouver Stealth are hosting a four-team pre-season scrimmage this weekend at the Langley Events Centre fieldhouse. The Stealth, Saskatchewan Rush, Colorado Mammoth and Calgary Roughnecks will all be playing on Dec. 3 and 4 as the teams prepare for the 2017 National Lacrosse League season.

Despite the National Lacrosse League season being more than a month away, the Vancouver Stealth have a hectic weekend in store.

Langley’s pro lacrosse team will host three teams and four pre-season scrimmages over the course of the weekend.

The Stealth will play host to the Calgary Roughnecks, Colorado Mammoth, and the Saskatchewan Rush on Saturday and Sunday.

The opening scrimmage will see the Stealth taking on the Roughnecks this Saturday, Dec. 3 at 6:30 pm.

The Saskatchewan Rush and the Colorado Mammoth will follow at 9 p.m.

On day two, Vancouver plays Saskatchewan at 9 a.m. and Calgary will play Colorado at noon.

All the sessions will take place at the Langley Events Centre’s Fieldhouse and will be open and free to the public.

Training camp will resume for the Vancouver Stealth the following weekend with sessions on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 11, training camp will take place from 9 to 11 a.m.

Roster cut down day takes place on Thursday, Dec. 15, when the team will be reduced to 20 active roster players along with four players on the team’s practice roster.

The Stealth will be back for a ‘two-a-day’ on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Practice on Sunday, Dec. 18 will be from 9 to 11 a.m.

The team will conclude its pre-season sessions the weekend of Dec. 30 and 31 with dates and times pending.

The 2017 NLL regular season begins for Vancouver on Jan. 6 in Calgary with the team set to play their home opener at the LEC on Jan. 14. That game will also be against the Roughnecks.
